Sheriff Wheeler presented "The Sheriff and Constitutional Interposition" at the Spring Conference of the Idaho Sheriffs Association. In attendance were the Idaho Sheriffs, Jailers and staff. It was greatly appreciated by the 20 newly elected sheriffs!

Sheriff Wheeler receives Patriotic First Responder Award.
The teamwork inside the Bonner County Sheriff's Office, under Sheriff Wheeler's leadership, led to the arrest and conviction of Judith Carpenter, in the Shirley Ramey murder.
Sheriff Wheeler was the keynote speaker at the 9/11 remembrance in 2015. He noted that while local communication has improved, National security was still lacking.

Sheriff Wheeler, guest speaker at Western States Sheriff's Association. Addressing issues of Coordination, Interposition and the Tenth Amendment. Siskiyou County Sheriff Jon Lopey assisted in the presentation by reading a large portion of the Declaration of Independence.
NRA School Shield Program
In November of 2016, Sheriff Wheeler hosted NRA School Shield's Security Assessor Training program in Bonner County. This was the first of its kind to happen west of the Mississippi. It was attended by Law Enforcement Officers from several local agencies. Following this training, a comprehensive safety plan was developed for all public and private schools in Bonner County.
Sheriff Wheeler is a yearly participant in the Sandpoint Leadership Program
Sheriff Wheeler made Missing and Exploited Children a priority at the Sheriff's Office after taking office in 2009. Updated in 2018.
